A word of honesty on blackout backup: most systems protect a set of dedicated backup circuits, the essentials like the fridge, lights, internet and a few power points, rather than every appliance in the house. Indicative price for a typical 10kWh retrofit battery added to a compatible existing solar system: standard single storey install, battery adjacent to the switchboard, dedicated backup circuits extra if you want them. Your fixed quote depends on your switchboard, cable runs, phase and hardware choice, and we put every line item in writing.

Common questions
Home battery questions, answered honestly
Will a battery run my whole house in a blackout?
Usually not the whole house, and anyone who promises otherwise without seeing your switchboard is guessing. Most installs protect dedicated backup circuits covering the essentials: fridge, lights, internet, some power points, and often a water pump. Whole home backup is achievable with hardware like the Sigen Energy Gateway or a Sungrow SH T series inverter with its built in bypass, provided your loads and switchboard suit it. We spell out exactly what will stay on in your quote.
What size battery do I need?
It depends on your overnight usage and what you want backed up. For many Northern Rivers homes, something around 10kWh usable covers the evening and overnight load. All three brands we install are modular, so you can start there and add capacity later: Sigenergy towers grow to 54kWh, Sungrow SBH stacks to 40kWh, and Fox ESS CQ6 stacks to 83.86kWh. Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?
In most cases, yes. Depending on your current inverter we either add a compatible hybrid inverter, or retrofit storage alongside what you have. Some older systems are better served by upgrading the inverter at the same time. We assess what is on your roof and wall before quoting, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Are there rebates for home batteries?
Government battery incentives may apply, we confirm eligibility in your quote. Schemes change and eligibility depends on your system and circumstances, so we check the current rules for your specific install rather than promising a number up front. Any incentive we claim on your behalf is shown as its own line in the quote.
How long do home batteries last?
Every battery we install carries a 10 year or better manufacturer warranty. The Fox ESS CQ6 carries 12 years, and Sigenergy and Sungrow both guarantee at least 70 percent of capacity remains at the 10 year mark, subject to the manufacturer conditions. All three use LFP chemistry, which is the long life, more thermally stable lithium chemistry.
