Fox ESS CQ6

Our Fox ESS workhorse. One master module plus up to 13 slaves stack from 11.98kWh to 83.86kWh nominal, in 5.99kWh steps, and Fox ESS quotes up to 251.58kWh across three stacks with the H3 Plus commercial inverter. It carries the longest warranty of any battery we install, 12 years, and was launched for Australia with VPP compatibility named for platforms including Amber, Evergen and Synergy. Fox ESS describes it as a “plug and play solution that can save valuable time for installers”, which in practice means a tidy, fast install day for you.

Fox ESS CQ7

The bigger module for bigger appetites: 6.96kWh per module, 13.92 to 97.44kWh usable per stack at 100 percent depth of discharge, and published nominal power from 9.22 to 64.51kW across the range. Warm up variants extend charging down to minus 25 degrees C for cold climates. The warranty is 10 years rather than the CQ6’s 12, so for most homes we quote the CQ6 first and reach for the CQ7 when capacity or power demands it.

Who it suits

Where Fox ESS is the right call

Value focused households. If the goal is maximum stored kilowatt hours per dollar with a 12 year warranty behind them, the CQ6 is hard to argue with.
Homes and farms that will scale. A single stack grows to 83.86kWh, and three stacks on an H3 Plus reach commercial scale. Buy the modules you need now, add more later.
VPP curious customers. The CQ6 launched with named compatibility for VPP platforms including Amber, Evergen and Synergy, so your battery can earn while you sleep.
Three phase and rural properties. Paired with the H3-Pro, backup switches in under 10ms and big pumps and sheds are within reach.

Honest caveat: the CQ6 datasheet lists 90 percent depth of discharge, so a stack’s stated kilowatt hours hold a little less usable energy than the label suggests. We size systems on usable energy, not the brochure number. Ask us to show the maths on 0420 141 078.

Fox ESS vs Sigenergy and Sungrow

Against Sigenergy: Fox ESS wins on price, stack size and warranty length (12 years on CQ6 versus 10). Sigenergy wins on integration and backup, with its five in one tower, in stack EV DC charging and 0ms Gateway switchover against Fox’s inverter EPS backup at under 10 to 20ms. If blackouts are your main driver, weigh the SigenStor seriously.

Against Sungrow: Fox ESS was founded in 2019, Sungrow in 1997, and that history is Sungrow’s strongest card along with the SBH’s published continuous power. Fox ESS counters with a longer warranty on the CQ6, larger single stack capacity, and a keener price. Both are IP65 or better, both are LFP, both back up through their own hybrid inverters. Common questions

Fox ESS questions, answered

Is a cheaper battery a worse battery?

Not automatically. Fox ESS builds at enormous scale in Wenzhou, uses the same LFP chemistry as the premium brands, and stands behind the CQ6 with a 12 year warranty, longer than either Sigenergy or Sungrow offer. Where the premium brands earn their margin is integration and backup hardware, not cell quality. We install all three and will tell you plainly where the differences matter for your home.

Does Fox ESS support blackout backup?

Yes, through the EPS output of the paired Fox ESS hybrid inverter: under 20ms switchover on the single phase H1-G2 and 1K5 series, under 10ms on the three phase H3-Pro. Backup runs on dedicated circuits we wire for your essentials, which we agree with you at design time. There is no 0ms whole home gateway in the Fox ecosystem, and we say so up front.

How big can a Fox ESS system get?

A single CQ6 stack runs from 11.98kWh (two modules) to 83.86kWh (fourteen modules), and Fox ESS quotes up to 251.58kWh using three stacks with the H3 Plus commercial inverter. The CQ7 stack reaches 97.44kWh. That covers everything from a family home to a farm shed or small business, and you can start small and add modules as budget allows.

What exactly does the 12 year warranty cover?

The Australian and New Zealand policy guarantees the CQ6 retains at least 70 percent of its energy for 12 years from installation, or until a minimum energy throughput is reached, whichever comes first, with throughput caps from 60.28MWh on the smallest stack to 421.96MWh on the largest. Conditions include product registration at commissioning, which we handle for you as part of the install.

Can Fox ESS join a virtual power plant?

Yes. The Australian CQ6 launch names compatibility with VPP platforms including Amber, Evergen and Synergy, and Fox ESS has announced a VPP partnership with Origin. Whether a VPP is worth joining depends on the offer and how you use power; we will give you our honest read when we design your system.
