Cold actually helps your panels
Solar panels are rated at a cell temperature of 25 degrees, and their output falls as the cells heat up beyond that. At around 1,000 metres on the Northern Tablelands, Armidale’s cool air keeps cell temperatures down, so a panel here produces more per rated watt on a clear day than the same panel sweltering on the coast. Frosty mornings followed by crisp, clear winter skies are genuinely good generating weather. The trade off is shorter winter days, so we size systems for your winter usage, not a brochure average.
