Sigenergy SigenStor
Stacks from 5.2kWh to 54.2kWh per tower, with battery, hybrid inverter and EV charging options in one modular unit.
Sigenergy detailsAnyone who has lived around Byron through a big east coast low knows the drill: trees over lines, days without power, and a fridge full of food going warm. Since the 2022 floods, most battery conversations we have in this town start with resilience, not just bill savings. Tom Sexton’s local team installs battery systems across Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers that store your solar through the day and keep the essentials running when the network goes down.
A battery does not automatically back up your whole house, and any quote that glosses over this is hiding something. During an outage the battery supplies its backup circuits: the circuits we wire through the backup side of the system when we install it. Choose them well and a blackout barely registers. Most Byron homes prioritise the fridge, some lights, the internet router, a few power points and, where the capacity supports it, water pumps for properties on tanks.
Whole home backup is possible with the larger systems, but big loads like ovens, pool pumps and air conditioning drain any battery quickly. We walk through your switchboard with you, agree exactly which circuits go on backup, and put it in the quote so there are no surprises the first time the grid drops out.
Byron’s grid runs through trees, floodplains and salt air, and every storm season tests it. A correctly configured battery takes over in a blackout, and while the sun is up your solar keeps recharging it, so a multi day outage becomes an inconvenience instead of an emergency. The rest of the year it earns its keep the ordinary way: storing your cheap midday solar and spending it in the evening instead of buying peak rate power.
On flood prone sites we also think hard about placement, mounting batteries and inverters high, a practice we cover on our Northern Rivers page.
We install Sigenergy, Sungrow and Fox ESS. All modular systems that start small and grow, every one with blackout backup available and a 10 year or better warranty. Every figure below comes from the manufacturer datasheets, compared properly on our battery brand page.

Sigenergy details5kWh modules expandable to 40kWh per stack, from one of the most established inverter makers in the country.
Sungrow detailsStackable from 12kWh to 83.9kWh with a 12 year warranty, for homes that want serious capacity.
Fox ESS detailsStarting from scratch rather than adding to an existing system? Our main batteries and backup page covers the full picture, and our Byron Bay solar page covers the panels that feed it.
Tell us about your solar, your bills and what you want to keep running in a blackout.
We check your existing inverter and switchboard, and design retrofit or hybrid accordingly.
We agree your backup circuits with you and fix them in the written quote.
Our team installs, configures and tests the changeover, usually in a day.
Monitoring on your phone, and a local crew on the end of it long after the install.
Battery quotes vary with capacity, backup scope and your existing hardware, so the honest number is a fixed quote after we have seen your switchboard. As a guide, here is our typical retrofit starting point. Call 0420 141 078 for a realistic range over the phone.
Indicative price for a typical 10kWh retrofit battery added to a compatible existing solar system: standard single storey install, battery adjacent to the switchboard, dedicated backup circuits extra if you want them. Government battery incentives may apply, and we confirm your eligibility in the quote rather than baking an assumed rebate into a headline price.
Start with what a blackout actually threatens: the fridge and freezer, some lighting, the internet router and a few power points for phones. On rural Byron properties, tank water pumps are usually next. Big loads like ovens, air conditioning and pool equipment drain a battery fast, so we only include them where the capacity genuinely supports it. We agree the list with you at your switchboard before we quote.
With the systems we install, yes, when the backup function is configured. The system disconnects from the failed grid, runs your backup circuits, and uses daylight to recharge the battery, which is what turns a multi day outage from an emergency into an inconvenience. It only works if it is designed and set up correctly, which is exactly the part we do not leave to chance.
Usually. Depending on your existing inverter, we either add a compatible battery system alongside it or upgrade to a hybrid inverter as part of the job. We check your hardware model before quoting and tell you which path is cheaper over the life of the system, not just on day one. If your inverter is near the end of its life anyway, our Byron Bay inverter page covers the upgrade path.
